How to check an agency now
- Registration of an employment agency in the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) — Waadi mark.
- Certificate SNA — public register on normeringarbeid.nl.
- Membership in associations ABU or NBBU — lists on their websites.
What will change
Starting January 1, 2027, a mandatory permit for employment agencies is being introduced in the Netherlands. Starting in 2028, the labor inspection will check, and agencies will not be able to operate without a permit.
Typical violations
- non-payment of wages or lower pay than agreed;
- charging the intermediary "for BSN" or "for a job";
- demanding registration as self-employed (KvK) instead of an employment contract;
- forcing agency housing or transport; deductions without written consent and without line items on the payslip.
Do not pay the agency in cash and do not agree to "open a business" in order to work. The contract and documents must be in your language.
